Population

The inhabitants of Thailand are descendants of much different peoples.

The present population of Thailand consists for 80 % of the Thai that from South-China originating are and in the 13e century to the present Thailand pulled. The Middle-Thai (the Siamese) is largest community and live on the central plain and in the delta of the river the Chao Phraya.

Other large communities its the South-Thai (Thai Seize Tai), the Lao and the North-Thai. The Shan (Thai Yai) are also relative on the Thai and live in the hills in the northwest of Thailand. The most important minority in Thailand is formed by the about 6 million Chinese (Sino-Thai), that an important share have in the trade, bank and transport sector. The first Chinese immigrants came in the 14e century to Thailand. In the south, the template Irish live that self distinguish through their language (the Malay) and their religion (Islam) as minorities group. In the northern provinces, single ethnic minorities live. Further they also live on the islands Phi Phi, Lanta, Talibong, Tarutao and Langkawi. They have an own language and an animistic believe. The Thaïs government does not considers them as citizens and they have no political rights. Because of this their safety is not guaranteed.

Thailand counts single hundred thousand refugees from Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. These men fledged their country, as a consequence of wars and suppressing administrators.

Urbanization

As already before said , 64 million men are living in Thailand. Of this number, approximately 21 % I lives in cities. -Chiang Mai with 170,300 Inhabitants
-Hat Yai with 138,000 Inhabitants
