Approximately 95% of the population confesses the official religion, the Theravada - Buddhism. Thailand has a harmonious society, differences are accepted if it is not in fight with tradition. It has to thank the harmony to the Buddhism, that has put the emphasis on the holiness of family, friends and social harmony. The reason that the Thai don’t envy men for having, a high social order stand, comes because they believe that they have earned that has. The Buddhism has no god or ruler, as in the Christianity. There are other religions in Thailand, but they are influenced through the landlords and standards from Buddhism. Orders Buddhist have an objective view on life and unprejudiced attitude respect of human weaknesses. The Buddhism attach a l big value to respect, rest and subtlety. Relations between men are complex and has every men has a particular place in a 'social order'. Such a social rang is fixed by example instance age, wealth (not the manner on which these obtained ), occupation class, religious wage, personal and political power. What we Dutchmen will see as 'a mucus dress' men will probably see that as respect for someone because these higher than you are on the order stands. Respect is an important characteristic of the Thai. Tourists stand high on the social hierarchy. The Thai entertain guests always very kind and warm. |
